St. Columba's Church Burns Night 2009

St. Columba's Church Burns Night was held at St. Georges School and is one of our main social events of the year: over 80 people attended.

The dancer danced (Linsey McEwen is a Scottish National Dance Champion) and the piper, Gregor Alan (a fine figure of a man ) piped.

The haggis was properly addressed by a rather apprehensive looking Alan Blair.

Anne-Marie and Ian Meiklejohn were congratulated on their Golden Wedding anniversary. They were actually married in St. Columba's.

Sandy Hare gave the toast to "The Imortal Memory" taking as his theme-Burns and Religion.

George Baird toasted the lasses. His wife, Jean, replied and the fidler played "Believe it if you wish"

Rena Menzies, our Session Clerk, ably assisted on the electronics by Boyd Bennie, (Clerk to the Board) and her husband Greg (Fabric Convenor), holding up the wall, thanked all those who had attended and also those who mucked in and did the dirty work.

At the end, after a few dances, we all sang "Auld Lang Syne" and wended our way home; a happy lot.
